In this newsletter you can read a thank you to all from one of our students, some reflections on the year 2018 and find a link to Pär´s TEDx-Talk about his book whose title in English can be translated to "Solved on the spot. Men travelling together ".
Some reflections over the year 2018 from KMCH´s point of view
In year 2018 we have completed the second floor on the house we built in 2014. We have decorated it with beds, smokeless stoves and other things so we can wellcome 20 new children this spring. Then there will live 67 children at the school home. The problem with the has been solved and we have continued to plant fruit trees within our replanting project TPP (Tree Planting Project).

During 2017 we invested with the help of New Hope in educating a few from KMCH and some villagers in planting and caring for fruit trees. We also bought planting equipment and cuttings for planting. During 2018, we sent a teacher at the school home on a course in starting and attending a nursery. We still have the hope that the acquired knowledge will gradually spread to nearby villages and that this project can be the start of an important process for the area, which may involve the creation of orchards in several villages and in the long run also reforestation.
Three of our kids, two boys and a girl, passed this year class 10. They will write their final exams, the so-called SLC (School Leaving Certificate) in April this year. Up to now eight children from KMCH who have done that SLC have been entitled to further studies. Thanks to support from The Society for Street Children in Nepal and the Family Olofsson Foundation all have been given the opportunity to continue their studies. Two of our students are studying in the Simikot, the capital of Humla and five in Kathmandu. One has completed his studies to be a teacher.
As has been mentioned in previous newsletters, we are gradually trying to make the living easier for the children. The plan for this year is to build a shower room and two new toilets.
KMCH SG has for several years received support of vital importance for the operations from The Olofsson Family Foundation. The New Hope Foundation has also supported us for several years. The firm of lawyers Fardnicklasson has supported us almost from the start. Extra income has come from the selling of the book "Solved on the spot. Men travel Together " by Pär Nord. However, the large number of donors is found among all individuals who have chosen to support us.
KMCH Support Group has been and still is the main sponsor of KMCH Nepal. Significant contribution to KMCH Nepal is coming from a group in Switzerland, Humla - Schweiz. Since some years The Adara Group also has supported KMCH Nepal. Adara Group is an Australian NGO that is one of the most important contributors to education and health care in Humla.

Our head of the school home, Lakpa Nurbu Lama, was 2018 awarded a Letter of Appreciation for his contribution towards our children´s school, Shree Mahabauddaha Secondary School. As we previously have reported, in 2017 the school was appointed to be one of Nepal's best schools in the so-called "remote areas". Both awards are an evidence of that even small organizations as KMCH can be appreciated for and feel as part of the development of Humla. It is very positive.
Losar -The Tibetan New Year.
On February the 5th we left the Earth Dog year 2145 and entered the Earth Pig year 2146. Losar is one of the most important festivals in the Tibetan cultural circle and thus also in the part of the Humla in which KMCH works. LOSAR is like a combination of Christmas Eve, New Year and birthday for us. No special birthdays are celebrated. All celebrations are concentrated to LOSAR.
The speech was held in Karlskrona in October 2018. Do you want to see it so use the address below or visit our website www.KMCHumla.se?
