Newsletter no 1 2016
Ekerö 29th Mars 2016
Hello, Tashi Delek, Namaste
At last the blockade on the border with India seems to be over
We have through the press heard about problems with the blockade of imports from India, which has been going on since last fall. At the beginning of February we got information that it would be over. In the last newsletter Anton described the background to the blockade. Even if the blockade is now over, it is still a hard time for the Nepalese people because it will take a while before everything becomes normal again. How normal it can be when the necessary reconstruction after the earthquakes not really has been able to take off. The Nepalese people must really learn to be happy about any improvement how minimal it may be.
The Tibetan New Year - Losar - occurred this year on February 9
This year the Tibetan New Year was on February 9. The New Year is called Fire-Ape and has number 2143 in their era. In previous newsletters we have told you about this important festival in Tibet and for our children in Humla. They have no individual birthdays as we have, everybody celebrate their birthday at the Losar-festival. It is a festival that lasts for several days, according to established rituals. The year 2143 is dedicated to Padmasambhava or Guru Rinpoche, which Tibetans mostly call him. He is one of the most important introducers of Buddhism to Tibet. He appeared there in the 700's.

Thank you KMCH for making me a better person who can differentiate between good and bad. I always look upon you as my first hostel. Moreover you taught me what is good and bad. That why surely KMCH helped me a lot when I can walk through the stranger path unknown its guided me very kind.
I am convinced that hostel is helping me to build of good foundation of my life. I am proud to be one of its students. KMCH will be always in my heart and I will never ever forget of KMCH supported in my life.
THANK YOU KMCH
Gangshar Dorje Lama
Such text makes you warm.
The second of our students that leave school this spring is Sonam Dolma Lama. They will conduct a national test in March. To pass that test with good results is eligible to be able to continue their studies. Both are good in school so we think that they will manage it. This test is in Nepal referred to as "The Iron Gate". Sonam wants to become a nurse (study period 3 years) and Gangshar wants to be a teacher in science (study period 2 years). They cannot study in Humla so it will probably be Kathmandu. For this, they need money and it has neither them nor KMCH SG. We are working hard for that and hope to reach a solution.

We conclude this newsletter, as we have done in the latest newsletters, with a poem. The poem is by Konjok Kyab Lama. He begins in grade 7 this year.
Even those who barely are responsible for the destroying of the globe feel their responsibilities. It's nice.
